Neurologists specialize in disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.  This includes episodic disorders such as headaches and epilepsy, blood vessel disorders such as stroke, inflammation of the nervous system and some degenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.  A lot of the work of a Neurologist is diagnostic – to explain why symptoms such as weakness, changes of sensation, headaches, coordination problems etc. are happening and to treat the cause wherever possible
